Leading a cross functional team, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Head of Commercial to implement the Commercial activity of the organisation to achieve an ambitious growth and retention plan.

So, what will you be doing?   
Day to day, you will be the glue between the company and the customer. We need you to help find solutions to new and existing challenges, being calm in your approach.  You will take charge of three departments, Commercial, Buying & Asset, managing performance and developing your team to ensure delivery against the company business plan/strategy.

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will:

  • Oversee the successful delivery and co-ordination of all commercial activities, including forecasting of turnover, WIP and overall management of revenue streams (contract and asset) into the business. 
  • Develop and maintain excellent customer relationships and service both internally and external.
  • Provide Commercial ongoing development of direct reports through 1-2-1‘s and the performance management framework, leading, developing and motivating teams to achieve agreed targets.
  • Contribute, as a member of the senior management team to the development of company strategy and to the Business Plan.
  • Implement and oversee policies, processes, procedures and risk management for the Commercial function.
  • Actively seek improvements within the Commercial departments identifying and implementing changes.
  • Ongoing development and mentoring to enable successful succession planning including the recruitment of new team members.

The Person:
To be successful within this role you will have demonstrable experience in a previous Senior Commercial role from within the Construction or Utilities environment. You will have demonstrable knowledge of quantity surveying and procurement methods and techniques and have a positive attitude towards customer service, understanding its impact on business performance.

This is a key leadership role, therefore, demonstrable experience of managing and developing personnel with a coaching and mentoring approach, must be evident.  Experience in change management and /or enabling business growth would be desirable.
